Found

I was reattaching some fencing around my yard to keep the rabbits out when I came across this amazing specimen. Unfortunately the skull wasn't there but I would imagine this is a small garter snake as that's about the only kind I see here. Did see a what I think was a whip snake one day, will have to check with Michael as he was there and is a snake expert. Pretty fascinating isn't it.

Pretty babies

Yesterday I visited my friends Sara and Michael and met some of their newest babies. These are reticulated pythons. They both hatched on July 4th.

Retics are one of the largest snakes in the world. Adults can reach 100+ pounds and 20+ feet long. These tiny babies in my hands don't show that potential, do they? Aren't they beautiful?

New babies

These babies are only three months old, two girls and a boy. They are reticulated pythons that belong to my friends Sara and Mike.

I stopped by their shop to see about getting some rats for my birds and they had the kids out while cleaning. This species will grow to be one of the largest snakes on the planet and are very beautiful. Warm and soft to the touch, they had fun climbing all over me and exploring a new person.

Mum to be

Her name is EVA and she's just finished laying 20 eggs. Reticulated pythons are very large and extremely beautiful. Now for the wait; 80 days before they hatch. This is her first clutch, hopefully all will go well and there will be 20 pretty babies arriving on time. My friends Sara and Mike are the proud grandparents to be.

Eeeeeeeek!

Well, not much to worry about here, this is a bull snake we saw as it ran across the drive where we released the baby magpies. Very long and quick so I only got the back half before he disappeared under the evergreen. It was quite hot out, he was seeking a cool place to stay.

Rare visitor

Today a rare visitor came to this facility, perhaps to pick out his next meal. This is DAVID, a coming four year old red-tailed boa. His owners usually come by themselves to pick up some mice for his meal but this time DAVID came along for the ride. He's an absolutely handsome snake and was very well behaved the whole time he was inside the rodent room.

I have eight people who come to IBR to buy meals for their snakes but DAVID is only the second one to come in person. Most of them are ball pythons, there are two red-tailed boas one king snake and one bull snake.
