Brothers forever
Little SAMSQUATCH and his "brother", DIGGLESBY, have become inseparable. As you can see, SAM has a lot of catching up to do in size but he more than makes up for that in spirit. He's now 2.75 pounds and gaining. I feel he'll always be smaller but his big heart and mind will make him the equal to any cat.

Happy Birthday !
MUFFIN
SISTER
I have two cats in my family, MUFFIN and SISTER. They came to me after being found stuffed into a paper bag and left next to a car at our local ball fields. That car belonged to my neighbor who brought them to me as she said her cats would kill them. It was estimated the kittens were about 3 1/2 weeks old. They knew nothing about solid food or what kitty litter was used for. They joined the two resident cats, TARGET and CRAYOLA.
They are 17 years old today and I don't know what my life would be like without my "bag ladies". They have brought such joy into this house.

Happy Birthday to you ! ! !
Well, it's actually tomorrow but these two cats will be 16 years old. I got them from a neighbor back when we estimated them to be about 3 1/2 weeks old. They had been stuffed into a paper bag and left next to their car at the local ball fields. When they came back from getting a snack they discovered a moving bag. As their cats would have probably killed them she thought of me. I did have one other cat at the time but she accepted the little things.
I can't imagine my life without these cats, they have brought such joy into my life. MUFFIN, in her favorite spot in the sun is laying on a beautiful rug given to me by my friend Susan as she knows I like elephants. SISTER was caught by the camera as she was walking across the kitchen floor, probably to go to her favorite napping spot on the couch back.

Old friend gone

Yesteday I found out that GARFIELD, one of the bobcats living at the Beartooth Nature Center in Red Lodge, MT has died. I met him in Ruth's office as a very young kitten and was thrilled to be able to meet such an endearing creature. This photo was taken when he was about grown but still an office cat with an outside run when he got to be too rambunctious. I don't have the particulars on what happened but I know everyone at the BNC is very sad now. As am I. Safe journey GARFIELD.

Babysitting

Today a visitor came to call. Rasputin is a 14 year old male Jack Russell terrier belonging to a friend who is going to the mountain for firewood and a couple days off for the holiday. As her other four dogs may pick on this old fellow if they're all kenneled together, he comes here to stay. As you notice, he dressed up for the visit in his favorite purple scarf.

Sad moment

Today I learned that PUNCH, the father of my dog, SOPHIE, has died. He wasn't a very old fellow but he had worked very hard all his life on his owners ranch in Pinedale. He is half Border Collie and half Bearded Collie and all dog. SOPHIE's mom, MADDIE, is a purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi, a tri-color. My dog got everything from her mom but her nose and hair, those came straight from her dad.
Two of the photos were taken a few years ago but you can see just what a handcome fellow he is and his sense of humor. The top two were taken during his "last roundup", literally. It was at the May branding and he was busy doing his job as always. Everyone will miss you.

Maddie's home

Just to catch up, Maddie is back living here. Now that my chickens are all behind their fencing I don't have to worry about her killing any more of them. The ones that were silly enough to fly over into the house yard were unfortunately too much of a temptation for her and she gave in to it. Her daughter, Sophie, is thrilled to have her back so she has another tug-of-war playmate.

Four legged family

I thought I'd show you some photos of my resident furry animals. SOPHIE was born in January, 2007 to a purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi mom, MADDIE and a Border Collie/Bearded Collie cross male, PUNCH (he's the one in the dark glasses). She was one of nine babies that took a long time to come into the world. Poor mom was exhausted by the time they all arrived and only six survived that ordeal. All of them look just like mom but have their dads haircoat, longer and with whiskers around their face.
MADDIE lived here for about a year but is now back with her original owner. SOPHIE missed her in the beginning but has finally gotten used to being alone again. Now I have to entertain her instead of her mother as she likes to play tug of war with an old sock.
The cats are MUFFIN, the chubby looking shorthair and SISTER, the glowering-with-spooky-eyes medium hair. They came to me when only a bit over three weeks old, dumped in a paper bag at our local baseball field. Luckily it was next to my neighbors car so when they came back from the snack bar they found them. These two kittens were very much loved by someone as they were socialized but again, not loved enough to keep. I can't imagine my life without them, they will be teenagers in July of this year and bring such joy to my life.
